January 5, 2023: -Media and entertainment firm Endeavor saw its shares decrease on Tuesday following a video showing Dana White, the president of its Ultimate, which fights Championship company, hitting his wife.
Endeavour shares closed by nearly 6%.
This week, a video published by TMZ shows White getting into an altercation with Anne, his wife, at a New Year’s Eve party in Mexico. In the video, the two are arguing before Anne White slaps Dana White. He then hits her.
On Monday, White issued a public apology, according to media reports. Anne White ais are also issuing a separate statement to TMZ, which calls it an isolated incident.
White is synonymous with UFC, serving as its president since 2001.
In 2014, White spoke about domestic violence following Ray Rice of the NFL that assaulted his fiance, which says you “don’t bounce back from putting your hands on a woman,” the media reports state. “Been that way in the UFC from we started here.”
Following the comments, White stated that the UFC screens people for domestic violence.
Hollywood powerhouse Endeavor started as a talent agency and was co-founded by the industry’s recognizable agent, Ari Emanuel. Endeavour has bulked up over the years through acquisitions, owning and managing live events such as the Miami Open and the Miss Universe international beauty pageant.
Endeavour acquired a controlling in the UFC, a popular hybrid martial arts league, in 2016. According to a securities filing, it took full ownership of UFC the year Endeavor had its starting public offering.
