Following the Network's $787 million payment, the Primetime host from Fox News has left

April 25, 2023: On Monday, the cable network announced that right-wing primetime host Tucker Carlson departed Fox News.

The announcement came days following Fox News’ parent firm settled Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit for $787.5 million. The firm’s hosts were not required to talk about the case or make an apology for it as part of the settlement, reported.

“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson agreeing to part ways,” the company stated. “We are grateful for the service to the connection as a host and before that as a contributor.”

Carlson will not be sent off, as his last program aired on Friday. Carlson signed off on Friday, stating he would return on Monday.

Beyond the release, the firm would not say whether Carlson was taken off air in answer to the Dominion defamation case.

Fox Corp., class A shares, decreased about 4% on Monday.

Carlson was among the hosts and executives questioned in the Dominion lawsuit. Several of his emails and texts were also part of the evidence coming out before the settlement. In addition, Dominion’s attorneys had listed 20 episodes that came on Fox’s networks as evidence of defamation, with Carlson’s being among them.

Other deposed hosts and part of the evidence include Maria Bartiromo, Jeanine Pirro, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, and former host Lou Dobbs.

Dominion sued Fox and its networks, which argues the networks “intentionally and falsely” blamed Dominion for the loss of retired President Donald Trump to President Joe Biden, which aires unsubstantiated claims about the organisation’s machines rigging the election.

While the lawsuit affected Fox’s business – its stock remained stable in the last months as evidence shows the host’s and executives’ scepticism about the election fraud claims being created on air, it was not clear the toll it would take on its programming and hosts.

Dobbs, namely as a defendant in the Smartmatic lawsuit, which is continuous and isn’t slated to go to trial from 2025. Shortly following Smartmatic, one more voting tech company, sued Fox for defamation in 2021, the year Dobbs’ weekday program on Fox Business was cancelled. At the time, Fox said the reveal’s cancellation was in the works before the lawsuit.
