China threatens the calculations with force on Taiwan, the U.S. states

August 19, 2022: -On Wednesday, China’s trying to drive and undermine Taiwan hazard calculation, and its pressure campaign will resume, Daniel Kritenbrink, the top U.S. diplomat for East Asia, said.

China, claiming Taiwan as its territory, has been carrying out war games and service drills nearly the island this month. It reveals anger at a visit to Taipei by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Kritenbrink, the associate secretary of state for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, said China is exploiting Pelosi’s trip as an excuse to change the status quo, risking its peace.

“These actions are part of an intensified pressure campaign by the PRC against Taiwan, hoping to continue to unfold in the future weeks and months,” he added, referring to the Republic of China. “The goal of this campaign is transparent to intimidate and coerce Taiwan and undermine its resilience.”

The U.S. has been evident to China that its approach to Taiwan has not changed, which includes the U.S. commitment to its “one China” policy and helping Taiwan’s formal independence, Kritenbrink said.

“While our policy has not transformed, what has changed is Beijing’s growing coercion. The work and activities of the PRC are deeply destabilizing. They jeopardize miscalculation and threaten the peace and tranquility of the Taiwan Strait.”

He said that the United States has transferred to China in every conversation. It does not desire and resolves not to provoke a crisis.

U.S. lines of contact with Beijing stay open, and the United States will continue to conduct regular naval transits through the Taiwan Strait, Kritenbrink further said.

“We will continue to take calm, resolute steps to uphold peace and stability in Beijing’s ongoing efforts to undermine it and support Taiwan in line with our long-standing policy. We will act responsibly, steadily, and firmly,” he stated.

China has not renounced the use of force to take control of Taiwan. Taiwan’s democratically elected government said that as the People’s Republic of China has never ruled the island, it has no right to decide its future, which its 23 million people can exclusively set without force.
