August 16, 2022: -On Saturday, an Indian-born investment banker known as Anshu Jain, who grew to the role of co-CEO at Deutsche Bank, died the previous night after fighting Cancer, his family said in a statement. He was 59 years old.
Jain recently worked as the President of Cantor Fitzgerald, qualified as an MBA at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and served at a few financial companies, such as Merrill Lynch, before relocating to Deutsche Bank. He worked as co-CEO from the year 2012 to 2015.
Jain resigned from his post at Deutsche before his contract was completed after a string of regulatory issues beset the bank.
His other positions included being an advisor at fintech company SoFi from 2016 to 2017 and a trustee of British charity Chance to Shine.
“He trusted in doing hard work, meritocracy, who operated outside of expectations or conventional boundaries, and placed family first, standing by one’s roots, in speaking at the margin’ instead of delivering plain facts, in wit and wordplay, in believing in nonmaterialistic, and in the importance of having broad-bandwidth and also being a ‘scholar-athlete,'” his family said in a statement.
“We are grateful to a lot of people who truly care for Anshu throughout his life. His legacy is tenacity, honor, and love for us,” the statement stated.
Howard Lutnick, the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, released a statement about Jain’s demise.
“Anshu was the consummate professional who did bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to his role as President. He will be in our hearts as an extraordinary leader, partner, and dear friend who will be missed by all of us and by all who knew him,” Lutnick expressed.
