July 16, 2020: Wednesday, we saw a similar tweet on several accounts like Elon Musk, Joe Biden, Bill Gates, and Apple, to promote a Bitcoin. The Bitcoin scam is not the first time that hackers have posted the Bitcoin promotion, earlier we have seen many other leaders facing the same issue.

The post requested the readers to pay the amount to the below-mentioned Bitcoin account and, they would double the money in return. These tweets scam tweets were flagged within an hour by the Twitter team and immediately blocked and prevented further tweets from all verified accounts. Twitter also announced to give back the twitter account to the user once the situation is under control from their end.

“I am giving back to the community. All Bitcoin sent to the address below will be sent back double! If you send $1,000, I will send back $2,000. Only doing this for 30 minutes,” the tweets read.

At 7.00 pm EST on Wednesday the scammers have received 355 donations already that totaled approximately $118,000+

The Bitcoin scam was not something new to identify. However, the account breach has led people to lose their money. Earlier, the hackers had breached the account of Twitter CEO and tweeted about placing a bomb in twitter headquarter.

Twitter confirmed to continue the investigation and take necessary action. The recent hack and the tweet were through accessing the phone and sending tweets through text messages. We look forward to battle the scammers with the COVID soon.
