June 16, 2020: The competition between Amazon and Walmart is always exciting to watch as the retail giants are expertise in their way and have addressed the customers in the best way possible. Walmart is now partnered with Shopify to expand the third part online market.

The executive announced it is likely to add 1200+ Shopify customers to Walmart by the end of this year. The share went up by 5% even the Walmart share slightly increased after the announcement. Shopify sells the tools to run the online stores it is primarily focused on the SMB. Walmart is focused on the US market said the companies would have an opportunity to list the wide range of products that they would require on our website.

Walmart is one of the largest retailers in the United States however, the total sale volume was from the retail stores out there and a very tiny percentage of the sale is from the online platform. The company has a total sale of $500B.  As the company always competes with Amazon when it comes to online sales now the sale has been shot up by 74% in the last quarter and the third party market place is changed to a first-party market place. The company states they buy goods and products directly from the manufacturers and there would be no middlemen involved.

Walmart has always tried to excel in the online retail by redesigning their website and has acquired a couple of online stores which help them compete and take over Amazon in the market. It would be a challenging task for Amazon as well when Walmart online sale is increasing. We would have to wait for Amazon to move in this situation to gauge the next step.
